Judith e Martin
Judy Martin is a full time professional textile artist in Ontario, Canada. She uses dye, thread and cloth as primary materials and produces artworks by stitching these materials by hand. The process is time-consuming, but the healing meditation inherent in the method gives her the vitality to fulfil her large scale projects. In 2010 Judith began harvesting and processing natural plant dyes from local fields to create her work. Her practice is informed by the aesthetics of simplicity, time, labour, repetition, and the sense of touch.
In the Middle of the World a catalogue of the exhibition, with essay by Miranda Bouchard is available for purchase and read it for free ONLINE at this link
Judy Martin thanks the Ontario Arts Council for encouragement and financial support.
